Due
to the relocation of US 61 around Fort Madison in 2012, a portion of the bypassed
section became Unsigned Iowa 961 and the Primary Road System should be revised
to reflect this change.
PROPOSAL/ACTION
RECOMMENDATION:
It
is recommended that Unsigned Iowa 961, as described below, be added to the
Primary Road System.
Description
of Unsigned Iowa 961 in
Beginning
at the junction with IA2 traversing northerly through Section 3 T67N-R4W, and
continuing northerly, easterly, then northerly again through Sections 35, 25
and 24-T68N-R4W and ending at north junction of relocated US 61.

It
was discovered that the previous description of Unsigned IA 961 went unchanged
after the transfer of this route to the County, at an unknown date, and that
the Primary Route Description was never updated. The Primary Road System needs to be revised
to reflect this change.
PROPOSAL/ACTION
RECOMMENDATION:
It
is recommended that Unsigned IA 961 be removed from the Primary Road System,
due to transfer of jurisdiction to Lee County, at an unspecified date after
August 21, 1996.
